Mitochondria are the powerhouses of the cell. Mitochondrial dysfunction is at the root of many chronic health conditions that seem “stuck.” Energizing mitochondria in target tissues with specific photon wavelengths increases cellular metabolism, activates your stem cells, and initiates metabolic cascades that speed the healing process.
Photon therapy is applicable to neurodegenerative conditions like traumatic brain injury, dementia, functional neurological problems like long Covid brain fog and insomnia, dysfunction of internal organs, and chronic inflammation anywhere in the body.
Specific photon wavelengths energize the mitochondrial electron transport chain at Cytochrome c

*Photobiomodulation (PBM) is not FDA approved for treatment of any health condition, and by that view experimental in all conditions. PBM treatments provided to patients under a doctor’s supervision are done so on the authority of the doctor’s license to practice medicine.
Infrared photons delivered at appropriate intensity, responsibly dosed in Joules/cm2 for specific body tissue and organs are generally recognized as safe.

• Where can I receive Photon Therapy with the Mito Photon™ device? Clinics where available
• How much time does a treatment take? A PBM visit for photon therapy is usually less than 20 minutes start to finish. Appropriate and complete photon doses can be delivered to one body region in that timeframe. More treatment time is not better.
• Do I need a doctor’s order to receive treatment? If you are an established patient with Dr. Clark you can self schedule additional treatments as needed after the initial treatment plan is completed.
If another doctor/provider is referring you for a treatment series, that provider will need to send an order for your treatment plan.
Frequently Dr. Clark will include an initial photon treatment at the first visit when establishing care, when there is a clear indication and it is safe to do so.
• What is a typical treatment plan? If photon therapy is appropriate for your condition, the typical recommendation is for you to try one as part of a regular office visit, followed by a series of 8 more treatment only visits. Treatments are best done two times a week with at least one day off between each treatment.
• How soon will I notice if the treatment is doing anything for me? Functional cognitive problems like brain fog and insomnia respond to treatment quickly. Even those with TBI (traumatic brain injury) typically notice some improvement after the very first treatment.
Stroke, dementia and other chronic neurodegenerative conditions may require more treatments before certain improvement is noted.
• What are known negative side effects from the treatment? The most common side effects are headache, tiredness and sleepiness after a treatment.
Individual sensitivity varies greatly. If a headache is caused, the next treatment will include fewer Joules of photons delivered to the cranium to avoid repeating the headache.
Dr. Clark’s view is that tiredness and sleepiness right after a treatment is usually a good sign that your body wants you to take a rest so that your healing process can progress.
• Is this treatment covered by health insurance? Because of the experimental status at FDA, health insurers will not cover PBM treatments. When Dr. Clark includes a treatment as part of an office visit, the insurance plan is only being billed for the office visit and not the treatment.
• Are the treatments expensive? For many people the treatments are affordable. Current pricing is $65 for a single treatment, $480 for a series of 8 treatments.
• Where can I learn more about the science and benefits of PBM photon therapy? The video by Dr. Hamblin found on this page is an excellent primer before searching the peer reviewed science literature at Pubmed and other reputable information sources.
While not the same as controlled science experiments -- the patient testimonials found on this page highlight the experiences of others. Pointing also to the clinical experience and expertise being rapidly gained and gathered by Dr. Clark in applying photon therapy to difficult conditions.
